Briggs & Stratton employees planning to mow 110 lawns in one day to celebrate 110th Anniversary

Inspired by Rodney Smith Jr., founder of Raising Men Lawn Care Service (RMLCS), employees at Briggs & Stratton Corporation are looking to mow 110 lawns within the Milwaukee area for those who are not easily able to do so on their own. One community member also will receive free lawn care service provided by Briggs & Stratton for the entire mowing season.

RMLCS provides free lawn care to the elderly, disabled, single parents and military veterans. Additionally, the organization challenges youth throughout the country – and the world – to participate in the 50-Yard Challenge: Mow 50 lawns, for free, for people who lack the resources or ability to do it themselves.

“Since 2016, Briggs & Stratton has been a proud supporter of Rodney and RMLCS,” said vice president corporate marketing Rick Carpenter. “His efforts are an embodiment of our company values and You.Powered. brand theme, and we are excited to see his movement expanding into year two.”

Rodney will travel the U.S. this summer during a 50 States, 50 Lawns 2.0 tour where he will mow at least one lawn in each state and meet with youth groups to teach about lawn mower safety and the importance of volunteering, with the goal of recruiting more youth to accept the 50-Yard Challenge. He’s kicking his tour off in Milwaukee on May 17 and will take part in the Company’s mowing event. Briggs & Stratton provided Rodney with a financial contribution to cover expenses, as well as the outdoor power equipment needed for the trip.

“As Briggs & Stratton celebrates 110 years as a proud Milwaukee-based company, it’s only fitting we mark this milestone by mowing 110 lawns in the Milwaukee area with Rodney alongside us this year,” added Carpenter.
