Walbro announces divestiture of Flow Control business unit

Walbro, Co., Ltd., a Tucson, Ariz.-headquartered carburetor manufacturer and supplier of fuel injection, ignition, and fuel systems components, announced March 11 a definitive agreement to sell its Flow Control business unit. Keihin Hi-Flow Sales Co, Ltd. (KHF), a Japanese distributor of medical and industrial valves, will acquire the flow control business, including technology assets and employees. The divestiture is consistent with Walbro’s strategy to focus the organization on engine management and fuel system solutions.

KHF has been working together with Walbro for more than 25 years to develop Flow Control products for medical and industrial applications. The acquisition will allow KHF the flexibility to expand its product offering within the medical industry.

Subject to regulatory approvals and other customary closing conditions, Walbro expects the transaction to close by March 24, 2016. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
