Propane Education & Research Council celebrates National Park Week

As a proud supporter of the National Park Service’s green efforts, the Propane Education & Research Council (PERC) is celebrating National Park Week April 19-27. In 2013-14 alone, PERC has donated more than $250,000 worth of clean, fuel-efficient, propane-powered equipment to four national parks:


1) Blue Ridge: $76,000 equipment donation, including:

One Generac LP3250 portable generator and one LP5500 portable generator
Three Ventrac compact tractors and mowing attachments

2) Mammoth Cave National Park: $62,000 equipment donation, including:

Three John Deere mowers (52-, 60- and 72-inch cutting widths)
One Generac LP3250 portable generator and one LP5500 portable generator

3) Yellowstone National Park: $47,000 equipment donation, including:

One Generac LP3250 portable generator and one LP5500 portable generator
One 72-inch Exmark commercial mower with Kohler Command Pro EFI engine

4) National Mall and Memorial Parks: $69,000 equipment donation, including:

Two 60-inch Exmark commercial mowers with Kohler Command Pro EFI engine
Four 72-inch Exmark commercial mowers with Kohler Command Pro EFI engine
Displaced six diesel ZTR mowers

Over the years, PERC has funded nearly $1.7 million of projects. PERC’s donations have helped the parks enhance safety, reduce harmful greenhouse gas emissions, provide cleaner transportation for visitors and employees, reduce dependence on foreign oil, and increase energy efficiency while lowering operating costs.
