EDA attends 2018 SARL Summit

EDA’s VP of Government Relations and General Counsel, Natalie Higgins, and Director of Government Relations, Alexis Strieker, attended the State Agriculture and Rural Leaders (SARL) Annual Legislative Agriculture Chairs Summit in Kansas City, Mo. Hosted by Missouri Senator Brian Munzlinger and Kansas Senator Carolyn McGinn, this summit provided non-partisan educational opportunities for elected state and provincial officials with an interest in agriculture and rural communities to work together, network, collaborate and create problem solving partnerships.

This year, more than 200 legislators across the United States and Canada attended the summit. Higgins and Strieker attended numerous sessions including Future of Renewable Fuel Standard and the Impact of Natural Gas, Building Rural Infrastructure, Trade: The Role of and Reward for States and Provinces, as well as a millennial focus group, where Middle America consumers respond to questions about food, agriculture and technology.

In addition to the sessions, Higgins and Strieker were provided the opportunity to showcase the launch of r2rolutions.org, a joint effort with the Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM) that includes a video highlighting their Statement of Principles, information about service tools available, as well as material that further shows the implications of Right to Repair initiatives.

Strieker said, “Our main goal is to build the best business environment for equipment dealers, so it was great to have the opportunity to talk with legislators, as well other people in the equipment industry, about our thoughts and concerns regarding Right to Repair.”
