Briggs & Stratton Corporation has been a proud title sponsor of Briggs & Al’s Run & Walk for Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin for 23 years. The milestone 40th anniversary event took place on September 16, and it brought nearly 15,000 people to downtown Milwaukee, raising more than $1 million.
“Briggs & Stratton recognizes the critical role Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin plays in our community and in the lives of the kids and families who utilize its services,” said Todd Teske, Briggs & Stratton’s chairman, president & CEO. “Seeing thousands of people from the community come together to cheer for each other in honor of some pretty amazing kids is a special thing that our employees look forward to experiencing year after year — we all do it for those kids!”
Each year, Briggs & Stratton rallies a team of local employees and their families and friends who are eager to attend the event in Milwaukee and donate to the cause. “I am proud that Team Briggs raised record donations this year, and I’m challenging our employees to beat this record in 2018,” added Teske.
Each year, Briggs & Stratton supplements half the registration fee for its team members, and in honor of the 40th anniversary, the company contributed a match to prompt increased donations.
“Community support is vital to achieving our vision of having Wisconsin’s children be the healthiest in the nation,” said Peggy Troy, president and CEO of Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin. “The image of 15,000 people running and walking down Wisconsin Avenue in support of Briggs & Al’s Run & Walk will never cease to amaze me. We are incredibly grateful to Briggs & Stratton for 23 years of partnership in support of this wonderful event and the work we do at Children’s.”
Since its inception 40 years ago, the event has raised more than $20 million through gifts and pledges. Money raised goes to support Children’s Hospital’s research, advocacy, care and education efforts throughout the state.
