EETC accredits State Technical College of Missouri power equipment program

In an effort to increase the amount of power equipment technicians for the OPE industry, the Equipment & Engine Training Council (EETC) recently reaccredited State Technical College of Missouri in Linn, Mo. The number of EETC-accredited power equipment training programs in the United States and Canada currently stands at 78.

The training at State Technical College of Missouri is a comprehensive two-year hands-on program that emphasizes Outdoor Power Equipment engine systems, hydraulics and drive trains, and AC & DC electrical systems. Graduating students receive an Associate Degree with 68-71 credit hours. Critical Thinking, Math, Communication and Science Reasoning are also a strong part of the training curriculum.

“We are very excited to become an accredited training program with the EETC,” said Tony DeBoeuf, department chair and instructor at State Technical College of Missouri. “Building a strong personal relationship with manufacturers and industry associations like Kohler, Hydro-Gear and EETC can only help our students become more successful when they graduate and take their place in the power equipment industry.”

Visiting State Technical College of Missouri for its on-site audit were Greg Herpin, territory sales manager, Medart Inc., which is a Kohler Engine distributor; and EETC Executive Director Erik Sides.

“I’m very impressed with the power equipment program and facilities at the college,” Herpin said. “Having an EETC-accredited program in our own back yard will help us to connect Medart’s servicing power equipment dealers with a qualified and industry certified technician.”

The EETC is a non-profit professional association that is addressing the critical shortage of service technicians through its school accreditation and EETC technician certification programs.  The EETC is a member in good standing of the National Certification Commission.
