Excel Industries reaches major mower milestone
Excel Industries Inc., manufacturer of Hustler and BigDog turf equipment, reached a significant milestone on Oct. 20, 2015, when it produced its 500,000th mower. Founded in 1960, Excel introduced the world’s first zero-turn-radius (ZTR) mower in 1964 and currently has a global distribution network of more than 1,600 U.S. dealers and 50 distributors worldwide.
“We’ve been building ZTRs for a long time,” said Excel Vice President Bob Mullet. “It’s humbling and exciting to think about all the employees, customers and suppliers that have enabled us to reach the half-million mark.”
A company-wide celebration was held on December 4 at Excel’s corporate headquarters in Hesston, Kan., and included presenting a Hustler Raptor to a randomly selected employee.
