Walbro unveils new global structure and strategy

Walbro, the world’s largest carburetor manufacturer and leading supplier of fuel-injection, ignition and fuel systems, announced on July 28 a new corporate structure and strategy designed to better focus the company’s global resources on providing OEM partners a distinct competitive advantage in their markets.

“Walbro has always been known for innovation, quality and delivery, and our new strategy builds on this to create a clear Walbro discriminator for our OEMs,” said Walbro CEO Matt Riddle. “While external changes will be modest at first, our revised structure will improve our agility and speed to market by focusing our teams and aligning our technology with the needs of our key customers. We will be doubling down to provide greater service in our core markets while aggressively pursuing growth opportunities in adjacent markets where our technology and service provide a high level of value to our customers.”

Key changes in the organization include global Business Development and Operations teams, as well as product-focused P&L leaders with global matrixed business support functions. “The industry is changing at an accelerating pace, and Walbro is positioned to capitalize on the opportunities that come with that change,” said Christopher Quick, newly appointed senior vice president of strategy and business development. “Our focus is to align our product and service innovations and our deployed capital with the needs of our OEM partners to give them the edge they need to win in a highly competitive marketplace.”
