OPEI-EPA enforcement discussion to take place at GIE+EXPO

A complimentary seminar will take place from noon until 1:30 p.m. on Oct. 28 at GIE+EXPO in Louisville, Ky. Top enforcement officials from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), as well as Outdoor Power Equipment Institute (OPEI) staff and counsel, will discuss enforcement priorities and recommended controls and practices to help achieve full compliance. This event will be held in Room C203 on the upper level of the Kentucky Exposition Center. At the end of the discussion, OPEI staff & counsel will discuss EPA’s and the industry’s proactive efforts to warn consumers so that they don’t illegally misfuel their products with mid-level ethanol (i.e. E15), which can result in violations of the Clean Air Act, as well as damage products. OPEI has recently developed guidelines, following consultations with the EPA, to help manufacturers ensure that tamper-resistant mechanisms to limit carburetor adjustability are compliant with federal law.
